This books presents a state of the art of carbonate sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy. It covers basic concepts of oceanography, carbonate mineralogy, principles of carbonate sedimentation as well as chapters on rhythms and evnts in carbonate stratigraphy. Especially the chapter on the Fundamentals of Sequence Stratigraphy is worthwhile reading for everyone dealing with that subject. There is also an Appendix containing chapters on Carbonate Modelling and Seismology.
Everyone working with carbonate sediments, if in academia or in the industry, should at least read this book once.
